How do I Renew my SIA Door Supervisor Licence?

To renew your SIA Door Supervisor Licence, follow these steps:

  • Complete any required training: Ensure that you have completed any mandatory training or top-up courses specified by the SIA for licence renewal. 
  • Gather necessary documents: Collect all the required documents for renewal, such as proof of identification, current licence details, and any additional supporting documentation specified by the SIA.
  • Submit the application with payment: Fill out the licence renewal application form provided by the SIA. 
  • Await processing: After submitting your renewal application, the SIA will process your request. This may take some time, so be patient.
  • Receive your renewed licence: Once your application is approved, you will receive your renewed SIA Door Supervisor Licence. 

It’s crucial to initiate the renewal process 4 months before your current licence expires to avoid any disruptions in your ability to work as a Door Supervisor.

SIA Door Supervisor Top-Up Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top-Up) certificate.

The Course is consisting of 2 units:

Unit 1: Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry
Unit 2: Safety Awareness Unit for Door Supervisors

Unit 1 – Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use.
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used.
  • Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others.
  • Be able to use non-pain related standing, holding, and escorting techniques, including on-restrictive and restrictive skills.
  • Understand good practice to follow physical interventions.

Unit 2 – Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors within the Private Security Industry

  • Understand counter terrorism issues relevant to a door supervisor.
  • Know the role of a door supervisor when first aid situations occur in licensed premises.
  • Know legislation and requirements regarding children and young people relevant to a door supervisor.
  • Understand how a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe.
  • Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor.
